BE SURE TO WRITE RIGHT
The writers for this “Work Wanted” ad didn’t write it right. . .
What they wrote:
Man, honest. Will take anything.
We have double trouble here. Are the writers trying to say the man is honest? If he is honest, why would he take anything?! Or are the writers trying to convince the readers who question the man’s gender that the man really is a man?!
What they meant:
Giving the writers the benefit of the doubt, we assume the man is looking for work and the writers are attesting to the man's honesty.
To write it right:
Honest man needs job; willing to take any kind of work.
